Proper Toothbrush Maintenance
Having a clean toothbrush is an important step in having good oral health. Here are some tips to help maintain your toothbrushes:
1. Rinse thoroughly - After brushing, rinse your toothbrush thoroughly with tap water to remove any toothpaste and debris.
2. Let it air dry - Instead of covering your toothbrush, let it air dry and store it in an upright position. To avoid the growth of microorganisms, don't cover your toothbrush and avoid keeping them in a closed container.
3. Keep the brushes separated from other toothbrushes to prevent cross-contamination.
4. Replace toothbrushes every 3 to 4 months. - Bristles get worn with use and will get less effective as time passes. Some brushes may wear faster depending on each person's use and dental condition so check for wear and replace more frequently if needed - especially for children's toothbrushes.
