Brushing For Your Dental Health

Brushing your teeth is an important everyday task to maintain your personal oral hygiene. It helps remove food and plaque which can irritate the gums. When plaque is not removed it can turn into tartar. When tartar develops, brushing becomes more difficult when tartar collects above the gum line. Making the irritated gum tissue swell or bleed which results in gingivitis.

So make sure you brush your teeth at least twice a day and ideally after every meal, using fluoride-containing toothpaste. Make sure to brush for about two minutes each time.

Replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner if it becomes frayed. Lastly, consider using an electric toothbrush, especially if you have arthritis or other problems that make it difficult to brush well.
