Treating Your Gums Through Laser Gum Shaping
People undergo gum treatment for a variety of reasons and the procedures may vary per patient. Some with excessive amounts of gum tissue can benefit from contouring their gums to help with hygiene and esthetics.
Sometimes the build up of plaque and tartar below a patient's gum line around their teeth may also necessitate gum treatment. This involves removing tartar that the bristles an ordinary toothbrush cannot reach.
Our office employs the use of a laser to treat gums. Since it does not use heat or a cutting edge, using a laser is less sensitive and healing time is reduced drastically.
We also use laser to disinfect the bacteria in the gums responsible for tartar buildup. This gives the gum tissue the best opportunity to heal and overcome the tartar infection.
