What You Eat Affects Your Dental Health

What you choose to eat can greatly affect your general health, including that of your teeth and gums.

Oral bacteria feeds on sugar so consuming to many sugar-filled foods like sodas, sweetened drinks and processed foods can put you at risk for tooth decay.

If your diet lacks certain nutrients, it may be more difficult for your teeth to resist infection and may contribute to gum disease. Try to prepare meals with fresh vegetables and lean proteins instead of processed foods. Also, try to control the amount of sugar you consume and keep your diet low in starches and sugar to help starve oral bacteria and prevent tooth decay.
