Laser Gum Treatment

Some people have excessive amounts of gum tissue covering their teeth and benefit from gum treatment to help with hygiene and esthetics by contouring of the gum tissue. Sometimes the amount of plaque and tartar below the gum line around the teeth also necessitates gum treatment.

Our office employs the use of a laser for gum treatments. The laser is much less sensitive because it does not use heat or a cutting edge and the healing time is drastically reduced. The treatment involves removing tartar that tooth brush bristles cannot reach. We remove this tartar build up and can use the laser to disinfect the bacteria in the gums responsible for the tartar. This gives the gum tissue the best opportunity to overcome the tartar infection and heal.
