Numerous people have had "gum treatment" for different reasons and the procedures that render the gum treatment may be completely different. Some people have excessive amounts of gum tissue covering their teeth and benefit in terms of their hygiene and esthetics with contouring of the gum tissue. Our office employs the use of a laser to accomplish this goal. The laser is much less sensitive because it does not use heat or a cutting edge and the healing time is drastically reduced.

Sometimes the amount of plaque and tartar below the gum line around the teeth also necessitate gum treatment. This involves removing tartar that the bristles of a tooth brush cannot reach. We remove this tartar build up and can use the laser to disinfect the bacteria in the gums responsible for the tartar. This gives the gum tissue the best opportunity to overcome the tartar infection and heal.
