I received my Invisalign trays today!! Now what?

I received my Invisalign trays today!! Now what?
  1. We typically give you three sets of trays at each appointment. Each tray is to be worn for a two week duration. That means we are giving you 6 weeks worth of trays. Always wear your current tray to your next appointment so that we may see how your trays fit and where we need to make adjustments.

  2. Always schedule your next appointment when you leave, this will be typically be in another 6 weeks.

  3. Each set of trays comes in its own zip lock bag which is labeled for the appropriate tray. Always keep your old trays in its appropriate bag and keep them in a safe place.

  4. Invisalign will charge you for replacing lost or damaged trays. We give you a complimentary case to store your trays. Always use this case when the trays are out to prevent losing the trays or damaging the trays.

  5. Please call the office immediately if you lose your tray or if an attachment breaks.

  6. Use hand dish soap to clean your trays with a toothbrush. If you prefer to have the mint taste you can use toothpaste but be aware that toothpaste is abrasive and will cloud your tray. Alternatively Invisalign sells cleaning products off their website for home care. Never use hot water to rinse the trays as it may deform the tray.

  7. Invisalign trays are much more gentle compared to braces but you can expect some discomfort because we are still moving teeth through bone. Soreness can be expected most commonly in the first 2-3 days of a new aligner when taking the tray in and out. This commonly dissipates in a few minutes but in rare occasions patients will take Ibuprofen to alleviate any discomfort. Another tip is to start new trays right when going to bed so the initial discomfort is skipped during sleep.

  8. Remove the trays for eating. Also remove trays when drinking liquids that have high sugar or acid content, or that would stain your teeth. These liquids include but are not limited to: wine (white and red are acidic), sodas, juices and energy drinks (Gatorade, Powerade...) Be aware that you will marinade your teeth in whatever you drink. Water is perfectly fine to drink with the trays in.

  9. Since the Invisalign trays should be worn 22hrs/day, only remove your trays to eat/drink or brush your teeth.

  10. Call our office promptly with any questions: 941-5555
